Yu Ying? LOL

Almost half the kids there are below grade level in reading and/or math.

I mean it's based entirely on ratings that people voluntarily supply to a website I've never heard of, so I don't quite understand the point. It's entirely subjective and not even based on a representative sample. I would actually be suspicious that any school in the top 10 had some kind of administration- or PTA-driven campaign to get people to submit review for this purpose. And if my kid was at a school that encouraged that, I'd roll my eyes so hard they'd fall out of my head. A strong school does not need to rely on creating positive SEO for itself.

Though at least I get why a charter in DC or one of the suburban magnets might want to do this in order to encourage more people to put it on their lottery list or submit an application. But for boundary-based schools this seems silly.

For a Mandarin program that isn't serious enrolling around 1% native speakers.

I don't like niche nor do I care about any of the other rankings but niche it's not based only "ratings that people voluntarily supply". That's only about 5% of their criteria.

Apparently, that's the best school in the DC area- far better than those with almost no students below grade level in reading and math

Goofy ratings.

Watkins is much better than YuYing academically, at least for white kids (often posts the highest scores in the city for white kids in reading despite enrolling lots of poor kids).

For the handful of white kids there?

Looking at scores for Nepalese-Algerian kids, Dunbar is the top high school in DC!

Not a handful, at least 100 in testing grades alone, almost as many as YuYing.
