Contemplating a vacation the first week of May (last day of school is 5/24) due to obligations over Spring Break and a lot of the summer. We need a vacation big time and this would be the most convenient time. I don't feel like they hardly do anything in May as it is. Thoughts? She's a great student, no worries about her missing anything.
Sure
Convenience? You can't figure out how to fit summer vacation into summer?
I absolutely would
I have a second grader and 100% would do it. Wouldn't exceed five unexcused absences for the year, because then they get really up in your business.
I am a teacher. I would reach out to the teacher and let them know that you are planning for your child to miss the first week of May due a vacation and would like to know if this time frame interferes with any testing. Other than that, it does not matter.
Of course
Yes, take them out
Interesting. I don't think I would but I seem to be in the minority.
Parents in the DMV went nuts during the pandemic and haven't recovered. I don't think this question would have received the same responses in 2019. |
No. Not because it was more "convenient" for my family. If it was a trip tied to a close family member's wedding or something, you do what you need to, but in our district summer is 10 weeks. We can find a time in there for vacation.
If I have a conference somewhere and the family could get free room, sure I would. If there was a wedding or some other event, yes too. But I wouldn't plan a vacation for a school week when summer break is just a few weeks later.
I would!
Yes, I would. No big deal
Sure. But then don’t be the same parent who complains your kid missed some cutoff for advanced classes in 3rd grade.
