What daycare do you recommend in the Del Ray/Potomac Yard area? Only one family car and a lot of walking dropoff/pickup so needs to be in a relatively small radius.
Budget <$2k a month, preferably closer to $1500-1700, for a toddler (3 years old this fall). No other kids. I am looking for a center that is warm and loving but has a bit of structure/organization and low teacher turnover. Would strongly prefer no strict COVID or illness policies -- we both work in the office and are tired of missing work for quarantines. Kid is vaccinated. Don't care about academics or "readiness," etc. as long as the staff are kind and warm and keep the kids occupied. Child has an easy personality generally, but has had issues with biting and hitting; it seems to go away when paired with the right teacher. Need a full-day program (until at least 5:30pm), no preschool half days. Anything fit the bill in this area? |
Kiddie Academy of Alexandria was amazing for my kid who went on to thrive in K and then 1st grade. |
I did a lot of research in this area and could not find a center in Del Ray/Potomac Yards with good outdoor space. We went to Butterfly House which maybe close to you depending where you are. It is located on the Virginia Theological Seminary property. Wonderful staff and lots of outdoor play, the best playground and opportunity to walk around the beautiful VTS campus. While my kids learned they were not forced to do worksheet like many of the programs around here which are not developmentally appropriate. |
I loved the looks of Butterfly House but would not be walking/biking distance for us, unfortunately, which is what we need. |
