| My DD wants to apply to a college that is unpopular in this area and enrolls, maybe 15 kids, from MCPS. Does that help her chances of getting in if there are not that many applicants from MCPS? |
| No. I doubt the unpopular school is hoping for an increase to maybe 16 kids from MCPS. |
how do you even get this number? is it published anywhere? |
IDK, it might. From what I hear colleges primarily compare applicants against their own classmates. So less competition from within the school might give some marginal benefit, assuming they have the basic stats to be competitive in the first place. |
| BYU? Very difficult to get into. |
| Hard to say without knowing the % admit rate, overall or for MCPS. |
Would seem to be a slender reed. |
| Come on, Penn State isn’t that bad. |
LOL !!! Thank you !!! |
| I will say yes. |
HAHA HAHA HAHA Good one.
|
| How hard is it to get into? Just because there are 16 MCPS enrollees doesn't mean many more didn't apply. |
| Given low numbers from this area, your DC probably needs to do a very good job at showing demonstrated interest. Your "unpopular" theory could work against DC if the admissions staff think "nobody from there chooses this school" so why bother accepting someone who won't come. |
| Texas A&M |
| Bethesda Magazine posted MCPS stats recently and another poster did a great job of summarizing them. |
