Falls Church-McLean Children's Center

I posted this question on the daycare forum but haven't received any responses. Maybe someone on this forum happens to know something about this school? Thanks!

Does anyone have any information at all on this daycare - positive or negative? We're thinking of placing our child here but we're having trouble finding any reviews. It seems to be completely off the radar.

I would love to know as well, as we signed our 2.5 year old to go in September. I visited the school and was very impressed. It was really clean, an it just had a calm and nurturing vibe. Hopefully I am not wrong!

I visited the school and thought it had a nice, bright feel. It has a large number of spots dedicated to families under a certain income level, which may explain why it's not reviewed here.

The school focuses on socialization and seems to do an excellent job bringing in extra services like speech therapy and OT.

The school does not teach pre-reading or writing.

There does not seem to be a lot of staff turnover. The facility is pretty new, very clean, and has a nice playground.

I'm sure the school would be happy to put you in touch with current families to get first-hand observations.

Any one have any recent feedback on the center? Is this true? "The school does not teach pre-reading or writing. "

I have a 4 year old that go there and I cannot emphasize how wonderful this place is. There are teachers that have been there 40 years, 20 years, 15 years. It's a great place. They are working on getting NAYEC accredited and have almost no violations on the DSS website. My son is learning how to write his letters, learned about metamorphosis (they had caterpillar cocoons and tadpoles until they turned into butterflies and frogs, they have a garden and the food is from Good Foods, Inc which is one of the better food services. They do reserve certain spots for lower income students, ad their philosophy is that all kids should have the best foundation for starting kindergarten. It makes for a very diverse but also quality education. Go take a tour-you will love it.

Couldn't be too under the radar. I visited in the spring and really liked it and am on the wait list - 6 to 8 months long. Regardless, I did like it and the low turnover and great playground were a part of that for sure.

The Children's Center prepares children for kindergarten, teaching social and academic skills. It is accredited by NAEYC and has a 4 star rating with Virginia Quality, the state programs that supports programs in improving their quality. I encourage you to call and make an appointment to visit us. Elizabeth Page, Director
