Choose something close like Massanutten or Liberty and get a learn to ski package, rent skis for the season locally and bring them with you. Basically as parents you just have to make the commitment to get their for lessons every weekend/day off. If you live at the base of a ski slope it is easy, if not it is a lot.

Also, plan a winter vacation on a slope. Sign him up for lessons every morning and let him ski at night. By day three he/she will be amazing.

Liberty ski lessons assume you have some experience. Masaanuttan has family lessons for an hour that caters for beginners who have never skied before. Suggest do an hour at Massanuttan and then move onto Liberty or White tail lessons

This has not been our experience. We have done group and private lessons with them.

You need to be able to ski green to do the development program.

I would do liberty ski school or a private lesson. My totally non skiing 6 year old had 3 lessons last year. So 6 hrs total and she could ski after. Including turns. I recomend renting equipment off mountain as thats much faster.

Our five year old twins went through liberty. We did group lessons (but no one else showed, so basically private lessons). They had never been on skis. By the end of day one they could go down the little lesson hill. After day two they could go down a green.
