| My DD is working on her Common App. I've read that certain information is available to the colleges you select in the Common App before you submit the application. Is this true? She has certain activities listed and a draft of her essay but if the colleges can see those before they are finalized, should she delete them? |
| The application isn’t sent until you hit submit. First it goes to the Common App warehouse, then it is sent to the college by the common app company. The college won’t see anything until you pay and submit. |

From Common App:
"Any schools listed under My Colleges will have access to the following information from your application: - Prefix, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Suffix, Preferred Name, City, State, ZIP, Country, Ethnicity, Gender, Applicant ID, Citizenship Status, DOB, Entry Term, Decision Type, Applicant Type (First Year or Transfer), Academic Interest, Paid Status, Recommenders, School CEEB and School Name If you permit schools to communicate with you prior to submitting an application, they will also have access to: - Permanent Home Address, Alternate Phone, Cell Phone, Alternate Phone, Email, and SSN Once you submit an application to a school, that school will have access to all the information on the specific application." https://membersupport.commonapp.org/s/article/What-information-can-schools-see-about-my-application-before-I-submit-it |
Thank you so much for pasting this. I would not have even paid attention to it, and it's good to know. And to OP- thank you for asking the question! |
Thank you! Very helpful! |
