I've heard E-Z pass online for free. The problem is I live in DC + there is no E-Z pass website for DC. We visit our DD at her college + have been driving up + back to NJ...we need a pass.
Go to a different state's website (MD, VA, PA, etc.) and get the e-z pass through that state.
I looked at VA + it said it was for VA residents?
|
Here's the VA website:

I think Peace Bridge (NY?) is the only one that still offers a free ez-pass.
Ours is from NJ - we got them years ago when it wasn't available in that many states. Not required to be a resident. The fee is $1 a month which is totally worth it if it gets you through even one toll faster. We have 3 transponders and it's all under the $1 fee.
I live in DC and have one. I got it years ago when i worked in virginia. Just went to the office in tysons area (not sure) and got it by securing against my credit card. I don't pay anything for it.
years ago NY did not charge. but about 2 year ago, they starting charging $1 a month, just like NJ.
OP again here -- I called VA + it's $25 unless you give them a bank routing number -- doesn't sound secure. I'll try the NY idea. Thanks!
