I’m assuming you do not consider Richmond, New York, Chicago to be safe areas?

SCAD? Depends how you feel about Savannah.

Ringling? Nothing too scary in Sarasota.

Most major universities have strong visual arts departments. If she wants an arts only college that’s different. Maybe Mass College of Art?

Second RISD—Providence is now a really interesting city and there are several other schools such as Brown within walking distance of campus.

savannah college of art and design. programs are niche but if it’s a good fit, your child will have an awesome experience. and savannah is beautiful.

It's an amazing school (I'm an alum). When I went in the 1990s, we used to find bent spoons outside the studio building. No longer the case.

UMBC has a really good arts department with people doing internships in the movie industry and art for NASA. Check out the Linehan scholars program at UMBC. UMBC also seems fairly safe, as colleges go.

My suburban brain’s first thought was, “oh, the guy who bends spoons with his mind must have gone there.” Oooookkaaaayyyy.
