Fafsa - if you didn’t fill it out

Do you wish you did and why?

I’m leaving towards not filling it out. We won’t get any money. I’m certain.

No reason to fill it out unless you are close to getting money.

We are worth $5M+ and have over $300K saved for each kid in 529s, so even if job losses happen/something catastrophic happens, there is absolutely no way in Hell we would get anything. So I don't need colleges/goverment having all of my financial information readily available to them so I don't fill it out.

Many school-based scholarships that are not linked to need require filling out fasfa.

I had heard this too, but every school that I asked denied it. Do you know of any?

Name one school because I can't find one for which this is true.

Filled it out the first year. Realized that we didn’t qualify for anything, and weren’t offered merit aid based on it (for the school he ultimately selected). Didn’t fill it out after that.

Things may have (may have?!) changed since the late 90's when I worked in the financial aid office of my college, but at that time, one of the prerequisites for ALL scholarships was that financial aid had to have been applied for, even if the student didn't qualify for any.

Agree. We doubled checked with the 9 schools my DD applied to and all said they did not need it. With second DD have checked with 12. None need it IME, but there could be a few.

Not filling it out either, played with the calculator, EFC is 80k+ Based on assets only (~ 2 million ) even with 0 income

We didn't fill it out. Had full tuition saved in 529s and high income so no way were we getting financial aid. One of my kids did get some merit offers.

We aren't filling it out. We have a "cheap" mortgage ($3400/month) and gross income of around $380k. I just don't think it'll be worth it...

Filled it out for DC number one, got nothing. Did not fill it out for the next 2 years. Will fill it out this year, because we will have two in college next fall. Probably won't get anything, but you never know!

Similar. Merit scholarship at UMW did not require FAFSA. We knew we were paying for the rest, so we didn't fill it out.
