One camp all summer long OR a vaious camps at different locations?

I have to sign up my DS, rising 2nd grader, for summer camps. I see there are so many options nowadays, different themes weekly, at different locations...I'm not sure if I should sign him up for one camp that lasts the entire summer or sign him up for different camps held at/by different schools/organizations. First option's pro is that DS might meet a great teacher/counselor and make good friends that would last for the entire summer. Second option's pro would be DS would be able to meet/experience so many different people/things. What would you suggest?

I always coordinate with friends so the driving is easier.

If we had a driver and more money, he'd probably go to a "lasts all summer camp." We alternate between expensive and less so.
