Do you remember the low-fat lemon poppyseed loaf?

Anonymous
Wracking my brain to remember the name of the coffee spot in downtown DC, mid to late 1990s, that sold a “low fat lemon poppyseed muffin loaf“ and coffee. The place wasn’t known for breakfast, more of a lunch place, but it had coffee options in the morning. My girlfriends all seem to remember the low fat lemon poppyseed muffin loaf, but we cannot remember the name of the restaurant. All tips greatly appreciated!

That was too fancy - this was definitely a chain and not great. But thanks for the suggestion!

I remember this too, no idea where I got it.

It wasn't from Trader Joe's? I recall that, but don't remember it being from a cafe or restaurant.

Was it muffin shaped or tiny-loaf shaped?

No, this predates the opening of Trader Joe’s in DC. I wish I could remember anything else about the place, but my girlfriends seem to remember this specific muffin and now the name of the place is my white whale.

Loaf shaped! The place had regular muffins, too, but the lemon poppyseed ones were loaf shaped.

Au Bon Pain? I don’t remember them specifically having this but sounds like something they might offer.

DP but Au Bon Pain sounds right to me -- because this loaf sounds familiar to me and ABP is someplace I used to go!

I am a PP who suggested ABP - I am thinking of them well before 2015. Not sure when in time OP is remembering.
