Hi - we are looking for an event venue for a post funeral reception. Church is in Georgetown. Any suggestions for a few hundred people? I don't think the Car Barn does events any more... Maybe Georgetown University has a hall we can rent? Thanks so much for any other thoughts or ideas!!!
Can you do it in the church hall? I went to one in Georgetown recently and the reception was a catered event in the church hall. It's much easier for people to stay in the same place. Probably around 150-200 people at the service, not all stayed for the reception.
There is nowhere in Georgetown for 200 people to park. You could look at a hotel across key bridge in Arlington. Crystal city will be most affordable.

Pinstripes is a large party venue, maybe not funeral appropriate though, also the Four Seasons and Ritz have party spaces.

Does the French Embassy rent out space?
Otherwise I think you need to stick with hotels. The Watergate is close by if the Ritz or Four Seasons don't work for you. Or the Georgetown Marriott on 22nd Street. Also, the Duke Ellington School rents out space but I'm not sure if they would have a space big enough for 200, and if it is during a school day it might not work for either side. Finally, reach out to Georgetown University. Some of their buildings have spaces that are rented out. IMO, having done this recently for a family member, a hotel or private club is the best option. |
Thanks to all of you for the good ideas.
Pinstripes is a good idea. Their private space is not right in the mix of the bowling alley and would have space large enough for your event. House of Sweden rents their space so you could try there. Sequoia should be able to accommodate and maybe some of the other waterfront restaurants. |
Hotel Rosewood has lovely spaces - we just looked at it for a corporate event - it is super pricey though.
How about Georgetown Club on Wisconsin? Might work if walking distance from church
Park Hyatt
Magianno’s Friendship heights
