Toddler flu shot at CVS

Anonymous
We took our toddler in for his 18 month checkup at Children's National last week and wanted to get him his flu shot but they said they didn't have it yet. Does anyone know if CVS does it for children that young? I know last year he was too young to get it at a CVS. Thought it was weird that Children's National seemed to think none of it was a big deal, not knowing when they would get their supplies and not really seeming concerned if he got one or not.

It's too early. Wait until mid October so he will have coverage in the spring.

I thought most pharmacies won’t vaccinate children under 3. We always have to wait until our pediatrician has the flu shots available.

18 months and up can get it at CVS Minute Clinic.

My cvs said they had to be 5. So I think it depends on the pharmacy.

for a toddler, no, you should not wait. our docs office said the kids from daycare start coming in with the flu as early as beginning of October and not to wait.

I had this same issue. Make sure you make an appointment through Minute Clinic at CVS (not the pharmacy).

OK but they also get it in February. Flu shot is pretty ineffective, so you're really only well protected for a few weeks, maybe a few months.
