APS - What grades are common for parents getting divorced?

Anonymous
My younger ES kids are the only divorced kids in their classes. In what grades are more parents divorced?

It would be nice if they weren't the only kids who live in 2 houses in their classes. I'd also like to make more divorced parent friends (instead of people asking about "my husband" or vice versa to their dad about me).

Late ES in our experience.

And by MS no one cares about parents at all.

Seems to build over the course of elementary school.

You want to see more children with divorced parents? What the eff is wrong with you?

If you’re divorced at early elementary age, you’re an idiot.

OP. Why would it be “nice” to have other children with parents living separately? Is this what you wish for children in your selfishness?

Not OP but give me a break. It's not unreasonable to hope your children will be around other children who share a common family structure so they don't feel like the only ones. OP is not wishing divorce on anyone.

Give us all a break. No early elementary child ask that sort of thing. The OP does wish others to divorce to feel better about her situation.

You should have stayed married, then your kids wouldn’t be the odd ones out and you’d have lots of options for married friends.

What a strange question! People get divorced for a variety of reasons, and at different points in their life. You’re assuming everyone is at the same life stage/age at every grade of their kids school. My kids are in middle school and I am mid 40. We have friends parents in their 30s and in their 50s. How can you generalize that most kids have parents that get divorced in seventh grade, etc.?

This is really weird. It sounds like you are just waiting for more kids’ parents to get divorced to make your situation more bearable. Divorce happens but it’s not like most divorced people wait until their kids are in 4th grade to do it. There is the trope of waiting for your kids to go to college before divorcing though. I know very few divorced people though.
