When did Talbots change its return policy? Permanently marked down items are now final sale. |
They must have made a very recent change. I order from them fairly frequently and was also deeply annoyed to find that they now charge $9 for a return, even for cardholders. I wrote to them to express my dismay. I guess they have been taking a hit from too many returns, but in an era of online shopping, the ease of their return process until now has been a major reason I stick with them. I'm unhappy that they didn't even make an announcement about all this to their loyal customers. |
PP here continuing my rant in sympathy. I just hopped over to the site to check and they've made the smocked, scoop-neck T final sale at $44.99. That's a nice comfy T, which I own in several colors, but it's an outrageous final price for basically a cheap top. At half that, I'd take a flyer on it and risk losing the cost if I didn't like the color, but I'm not going to buy anything at $45 final sale. I would be very unhappy to find Talbots are suffering as a business, because I depend on them, but I'm not going to depend on them with that level of risk in this financial environment.
/rant Sigh. |
OP here. Makes online shopping too risky unless you’ve tried on the garment in a brick and mortar. |
Yup. And I wear their women's sizes, which aren't in all of their stores. |
It's been a while. And I agree it sucks. ![]() |
I recently made several online purchases from them that were marked down permanently and was able to return them. You have to look - some permanently marked down items do say final sale, others do not. |
The clerk at the store I shopped at yesterday said that once a garment has its first markdown in red ink, it’s final sale. |
This policy is nearly everywhere now. Like Pp who was able to return, JCrew also accepts returns though theybsay final sale fwiw. |
