The bar for honor roll is very low. It's a participation prize. |

| The grades themselves are taken into account for magnet admissions and are part of a student’s records. Honor Roll is just recognition of students who are earning good grades. |

Technically all schools have it. Some choose to acknowledge the kids with assemblies and swag. Others do it without hoopla. My DDs attended a school that had the big public ceremony with ribbons and a bumper stickers for your parents’ cars. I teach at a school that gives your first period teacher a photocopied certificate that you get handed one day in class. |
