I love chewing on ice, and I love Sonic's soft ice nuggets. I've read some good reviews of the Opal ice nugget maker. But I'm having trouble justifying the $500 price tag. Interested in whether anyone has one and if you think it's worth it.
I have it. 100% worth it
My favorite kitchen appliance. Such great ice. It’s not silent, however, if that bothers you.
So very bad for your teeth |
regular ice is. opal ice nuggets are not. |
I have it but don’t use it as much as I thought I would. I tend to make a batch and then put in the freezer to store so I can turn the machine off.
I love Sonic ice and have always waned one of these.
It's huge and you need to clean it often to keep away mildew. Honestly, it is easier to just buy the bags of nugget ice from Chik Fil A.
I had never heard of this until a party a couple of weeks ago. The hostess had it out next to the drinks, and it was so perfect for the occasion. If you entertain much, I think it would totally be worth it.
I don’t have an Opal, but I’m glad to hear it works. I have a Scotsman ice maker that makes pearl ice and I love it. If we ever move, and I didn’t have room for a Scotsman, I’m glad to hear there’s an alternative.
We have one as well. The ice is really amazing if you like to chew ice (like I do) Agree with PP on the noise issue, although we don't run it around the clock.
