DCPS summer school experiences

I am trying to understand if the DCPS summer school options this summer -the 5 week programs- were any good. I have an elementary kid and a middleschooler. Is the one for smaller kids OK and what about those maths classes they offer over the summer for older ones? There is also some coding etc. What's your experience and what does the day look like?

My son did coding and graphic design at McKinley this past summer. It was all day--9 to 3:30--with one class in the morning, lunch and outdoor time, then the other class. They culminated with a showcase where the students presented the prototypes for apps they developed. The teachers were really engaging and my son enjoyed it quite a bit.
