non-academic resource class that actually targets ASD needs at Silver Creek?

My child has ASD. She has no academic goals, but she has significant needs in social skills and cognitive flexibility. Has anyone had a good experience at Silver Creek? My daughter is currently at a magnet, but the resource classes all support remedial math and/or reading. She basically just uses it as a study hall.

Sounds like she might be better in the asperger's program with social skills classes.

You might want to take it to the special needs forum.

We had a horrible experience in Resource class. The teacher struggled with classroom managament, so she tried teaching mini lessons on executive function, making decisions, etc. It was so bad our case manager suggested it get dropped second semester without me even making the request.

I would like to connect offline if possible. Any chance you were an RCF parent? I would probably know you.

My son’s resource class is teaching the PEERS curriculum which I am happy about, but it is for the Bridge program so geared for ASD students. I am not sure if there’s an autism program at Silver Creek that offers a program that might work for her. I am also not sure if kids outside of self-contained programs are allowed into the resource classes, but it might be worth asking.
