plastic water bottle question

Anonymous
I've now seen 2 neighbors bringing large packs of bottled water into their houses. We drink water from the filtered dispenser of the refridgerator or in the past have used the Brita filter. Do most people buy bottled water to drink at home? These are not the large Culligan bottles but the ones you could carry to class or the gym.

I have never understood this. We aren't a nation by and large with unclean water and the wastefulness of it disgusts me. We drink from the tap. Has anyone ever told them that what they are drinking is also tap water?

I see people buying big flats of them at the grocery. We drink filtered tap.

Just simply curious what they are thinking? Just ease? I like gatorade which I buy in the packs but was curious why the water bottles?

Sometimes it’s cultural. Are they immigrants? In many countries you can’t drink rap so folks are accustomed to buying and drinking bottled water.

I assume for parties or to distribute to a kid's teammates at some sports practice or game.

Yes, in some cases one of those giant water coolers and cups would be fine but not always practical.

I don’t like fluoride in my water.

I tend to keep at least one whole case of bottled water in my house for emergencies (like power going out, water not drinkable emergencies). We will have them at parties. A lot of times there are events at school that request them.

We use water bottles and refill from the filtered dispenser on the fridge for every day situations.

Why are you being so judgmental without knowing the facts?

It is weird that you are keeping this close of an eye on your neighbors and judging them for their groceries.

We drink filtered water from the tap at home, but I have been known to buy cases of bottled water for parties, road trips, kids' sports, etc.

I can’t stand the taste of tap water. It tastes too much like chlorine.

I usually have bottled water on hand. I offer it to visitors if they have a long drive ahead of them, to delivery people working in the summer heat, to workers in my home (repair people, electrician, etc.)

What? I WFH and my office faces my suburban neighborhood street with tons of homes and driveways.

I live right at the end of the street so I see down the street from my front window.

Some people park their cars on the street for extra space in their driveways.

I'm not purposefully creeping but if my neighbor gets out of the car, I will see it because my desk is by the window, if at that moment I am noticing. Otherwise I am busy with many other things.

Many, many people use bottled water for their day to day drinking needs. My BIL is one. His fridge is filled with bottles and he drinks many a day. It's disgusting and environmentally horrifying. Those plastic particles will exist in some form long after we are all dead.
