So is there really a lot of COVID at BCC right now? My kid said so and is feeling sick. He said the person sitting in the desk next to him was out with COVID today. I could not believe how close together the desks were at back to school night. Have we learned nothing in the last 2 years???? It seems impossible that he doesn't have it if the kid sitting two feet away has it.
Anyone else know of COVID cases at BCC? |
| Why are you surprised! No masking, no precautions. Hope he feels better soon. |
| My kid goes to BCC — she hasn’t heard or noticed anything. |
| I think there’s a lot around at the moment, though I don’t know about BCC specifically. Half our family is down with it now - picked up from school in DC. |
The dominant variant is far more contagious than COVID classic. Many people today feel they're done with it even though COVID isn't done with them so refuse to mask. If you think things are bad now give it a couple months... |
| There’s covid everywhere. Now he’s immune for a bit. |
I used to be like you, but I’m not masking forever. Are you? |
|
I heard half the football had it recently.
DD was complaining about the crammed in desks, too. She is still masking in class (or so she says at least). |
| Op what we have learned is that 6 feet of spacing means nothing with regard to Covid. Yes we have learned. So if they sit 2feet or 10 feet there’s no difference. |

How can you expect spread out desks? Where will they go?
|
What do you want? Shut down schools again? Your kid will be fine if he is vaccinated. Stop freaking out and stop making a big deal about how close the desks are |
Yep! Yay for natural immunity - which has been shown to be robust. |
Right? Our classrooms are already so overcrowded. Would the kids sit in the hall? Anyway, MCPS does offer Virtual Academy for parents who would like to continue social distancing. |
The anti-maskers really don't care and don't seem to grasp: 1) there are serious longterm consequences for many 2) that were in this together and their actions affect others |

Our school starts earlier than most around here and for the first three weeks there were nearly daily alerts of COVID and then none after that. Same thing going on at colleges - a bunch of sick kids for the first several weeks, then it settles down.
It is the beginning of the year sharing of bugs. It's to be expected. |
