| I recently watched Scenes From A Marriage and The Worst Person in the World and really enjoyed both. Any other recommendations for similar story lines (about love/heartbreak), that aren't cheesy and where performance, storyline, is at the forefront? |

Blue Valentine
500 Days of Summer Sliding Doors Breaking the Waves |
| Big Little Lies — ostensibly about a murder, but several marriages play key roles. |
| Modern Love |
| Real Sex on HBO |
| Maybe Drinking Buddies? |
| Lovesick |
| Modern Love. Season one is the best IMO. |

Are you open to classic movies?
I suggest The Rose Tattoo (1955) which is based on a Tennessee Williams play. Anna Magnani won an Acadamy Award for her performance. It is a story about old love, new love, lost love and filial/maternal love. |

The scene that exemplifies "heart break" most to me is from the movie "Monster" with Charlize Theron.
Not really a typical "love story"...and I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't seen it. But there is a scene towards the end that to me shows raw betrayal and heartbreak. |
| Outlander |
| If Beale Street Could Talk. The cinematography and the storytelling are a tragic yet beautiful story of love. You can really feel how the love feels between the lead characters. It's an adaption of a James Baldwin book. Such a beautiful story of deep passionate enduring love. |
Particularly since this is based on a true story and real people. |
yep, this. |

Not romantic love, but for parental love and heartbreak, another Charlize Theron movie came to mind - Tully. That movie haunts me.
I also liked Modern Love (I read the columns regularly) and the Anna Kendrick love series on HBO, especially the first season. Then there's the classic movie, Love Story. Read the book first. |
