Dr. Recs for serious weight loss needed

Anonymous

This is a cross post from Health and Medicine. I posted there bc this is a real health issue, not just me wanted to be thinner.

I am 100 lbs overweight and pretty sure I am diabetic. Anyone recommend a medical practice that does weight loss with newer drugs, nutrition, behavioral therapy all in one? I need to change my lifestyle and eating habits, but I realize I cannot do it on my own anymore. I know there are diet programs, and I did one. But the therapy and help was minimal, it was all about buying their products and a drug. I want to use the new drugs like Wegovy, but I need therapy etc to go with it. I may even consider surgery, even with the horror stories about complications after a couple years. Any doctor recommendations? Endo cronologists that will at least get me going on the drugs and I find a therapist?

Help is appreciated.

I was 80 lbs overweight. Had gastric sleeve 5 years ago and it was the best decision of my life. So easy, zero pain. My entire relationship with food has changed. I don't diet. I eat well for nutrition. And I am never hungry. My 75 yo mother had it done after she saw my experience, and also has had zero issues. She also says she's so sad she didn't have it done earlier. High blood pressure and diabetes can be gone in weeks. Why do you think insurance covers this? It's the only thing that been provable for long term maintenance. After decades of unhealthy yo-yo dieting, I feel truly free from food and weight issues for the first time in my 50 years of life. YMMV, but it was a life changer for me.

I need to lose a lot as well and I have had good luck with Dr. Menucci from Capital Diabetes and Endocrinology. She got me on Wegovy and worked with my insurance to get it approved. I've been working with her for about 6 month and her mindset is definitely slow manageable weight loss that can be kept off long term. Good luck!
