Where to buy blackberry bushes?

Anonymous
I would like to put some blackberry bushes in my yard, and I understand Fall is the best time to plant them. Is there anywhere between DC and Fredericksburg that sells them?

Edible Landscaping. Or order from Stark Bros or Burpee. I wouldn't put them in the ground until closer to Halloween.

They spread like crazy. Same with raspberry

I know--that's the point! I have a almost an acre lot and my neighbor has put something big and ugly right at the property line. I need something to use as a screen, I want to it be native (hence blackberries over raspberries), and picking berries will give my kids something to do.

Thanks. I have not had much luck finding native varietals at these places, but I admit that I had not thought to look for blackberries specifically there. I'll see what they have.

I bought mine from Nourse Farms. They sell in spring.

Bernadette, is that you??

Careful, there are lots of invasive blackberries. In fact, I see those much more often than the native ones. They’re still delicious, but terrible to get rid of and they spread like crazy.

But I do love brambles and wish I had room for one!
