Will you please ask your elementary age child which items (the entrees) he or she likes the most? The least? My child has never bought lunch and wants to try. What’s good? |
The empanadas are really good. I’m a staff member who occasionally buys. Chicken sandwich and drumstick are popular, as is pizza of course. Most kids hate the dumplings. |
The dumplings are a hot commodity at my sons middle school. High trade value. |
My kids like the empanadas, chicken sandwich, & dumplings. They do not like the pizza APS serves. My kid bought lunch yesterday (usually packs) & said the pear was so hard/unripe, it was inedible. |
Pizza and chicken sandwich are winners in our house (1st grade). They'll get lunch on meatball days, and sometimes they'll get the cold lunch (hummus box, stacker box). |
Oh, and chicken drumstick. |
No one likes the pizza (sad!!). The kids at our school always talk about the chicken and waffles. |
My kid said the meatballs on Thursday were disgusting. |
Yeah those are good. Pasta with meat sauce has been popular with staff and students over the years |
DS (2nd grade) liked the pizza last year. I don't know if its the same this year, but he dresses up for pizza day.
Chicken sandwich seems to be popular with him. DD is in K and opted to bring lunch that day. I would like them to include more pictures of what the food looks like - it helps the kids decide the night before if they need to pack food. |
The dumplings are awesome! |
Chicken sandwich, chicken and waffles, pasta with meat sauce. Hands down favorite is the beef taco rice bowl which I personally think is gross. DC has said the pizza sauce is weird or spicy and doesn't like it. |
This is a great list! I’m a parent of a kindergartener. How do they order? Should I send her with a piece of paper with her student ID on it? And when it says “local Virginia produce” does she need to decide she wants that before knowing what it is? I can help her pick the night before, but I can’t give her much guidance on whether she’ll like “local Virginia produce.” |
Idk my kid liked stuff at school they would never eat otherwise so just let them pick. |
No need to send paper with her order. The cafeteria workers are sweet and normally there are lunch aides there to help especially this early in the year with the young kids. She will get a tray and can either choose the main dish or grab a pre-made option such as the sunbutter sandwich. Virginia produce might mean they have green beans versus broccoli as the side vegetable. There's always yogurt and your basic apple or banana. |
