| There are THREE Mondays off in October and then we have Tuesday and Friday off the first week of November. I actually previously liked the extra long 4 day weekends. They were great weekends to travel. Now we have these random days off sprinkled around and not even consecutive long weekend days. Horrible for travel. Horrible for childcare. Horrible for all. |
| There have been a million calendar threads. Parents were surveyed. Clearly you didn’t want what others did. |
+1, already discussed numerous times |
I am only just seeing the calendar now. I can't believe we have 3 Mondays off in October. |
| It is absurd. We have only 4 full weeks between now and Thanksgiving because this school board this bring in school is unimportant. There are a million threads on this, though. The answer is to remember and vote for a better board |
There is no way anyone voted for the schedule as is. No one likes it, no one. Starts early, ends late. Tons of random days off. |
| Because religion is dictating public school calendars. |
Op here. I was just with some people at the beach and they are all starting school after Labor Day. How is it that we are starting 2 weeks later but getting out later in mid June??? Ugh. |
It's because people like you demanded off two weeks for Christmas. |
Yup - specifically the Christian religion - Easter Break, Christmas Break disguised as spring break and winter break. LOL |
No way!! Easter break NEVER coincides with actual Easter. Spring break is not Easter break. |
|
The point is to have a shorter summer so kids have less time to forget what they learned the year before. It is better to have random days off sprinkled throughout the year because kids won’t forget as much over one or two days as they can over a looong summer break.

Except there is no consistency, structure gets completely thrown out the door will all of the days off. |
| The first Wednesday in October is also no school. |
| What was the reason for Friday being off? |
