Dh and childish trick Q

Anonymous
I don't want to say exactly what the thing is but in general do you care if your DH acts childish when out with you and your kids in a public setting? My DH likes to do a certain "trick" when we go to a park and I am mortified when he does this. Should I care? It something you would usually see a kid/teenager do. Thoughts?

Does this trick harm anyone? Or just embarrass you?

If the former, you can be upset. If the latter, you have to let it go.

OP just tell us what it is

My DH acts childish like this. Kids love it, and he’s a great dad, so I deal with it.

Like he's doing a flip of a piece of equipment?

Let's say it's a cartwheel. In a park? That's fine. In the mall? Not cute. In the office? Embarrassing.

I don't think of that as childish, but as athletic. I'd think of a childish trick as "pull my finger" and then farting.

I’d really need more info to answer this one.

I knew a dad who use to be a gymnast of some sort and he would do flips at the park. He was really in shape and it was actually super hot. Maybe if I was his wife I'd be embarrassed if he did it at the mall...but he looked good...

I’m guessing that it’s his child-like, free spirit that was attractive to you when you first met. Tap back into that. See his personality and joy with your children as the perfect complement to your more reserved personality. Children need both of those personalities. Embrace him. Celebrate him. Contempt and disdain are relationship killers and not a good look for you. Require more of yourself to embrace this fun side of him when you go to the park or are out in public.

You sound like a nice person.

Being goofy with kids in a park is totally fine. I might be a bit embarrassed if it was over the top and not "good" (not like gymnast dad above) but that's me, I don't like to have attention drawn my way.

Seems pretty innocuous without more info.
