Second Floor Heat Pump

Our heat pump died and we have to get a new one.

Our second floor is ~1750 square feet and has nine foot ceilings except the primary bedroom which goes up to 12 feet. These were the options we were given:

Carrier 25VNA4 up to 24 seer variable-capacity
Carrier 18VNA8 up to 18 seer five stage
Carrier 25HPB6 up to 16 seer single stage
Armstrong 4SHP16LE up to 16 seer single stage

Any thoughts?

What's the price difference between the variable capacity and five stage? Either of those should work for your needs. I wouldn't do a single stage - they are inferior on comfort.
