Do you put together a basket for overnight house guests?

If so, what's in it?

No, we have food and beverage stocked and available, and we make sure they know they are welcome to help themselves at any time.

Wow. No way. At most I put out towels and offer food and beverage.

No we have food and beverages and fresh linens and towels. I show them the cabinet where I keep extra things like toothbrushes and such if they forgot them.

We don't have a guest bath, so in the bedroom where they are staying, I leave a couple of towels and a basket with toiletries and a scrubby per person.

I think this would kind of depend on who's coming, for what purpose, and on your specific set up. If they are staying with you while they sightsee, for example, you may want to include SmarTrip cards.

Nope. Clean linens and towels. They know they can help themselves to any food/beverage they want.

I’m the furthest thing from a Pinterest mom.

This. Plus we have the WiFi password posted. That’s it.

Kitchen and pantry are well-stocked, with an invitation to help themselves any time.

Fresh linens/towels, and I show them where the extras are.

A few extra toiletries in the guest bathroom, plus a hair dryer under the sink.

WiFi credentials printed out.

Coffee set up the night before, with sugar and extra cups and spoons set out, along with plates/bowls/napkins and a basket of fruit, with a note to help yourself in the morning. (I set it out so people don’t need to clank around the kitchen, opening each cabinet.)

My sister does, but she’s a true cutesy Pinterest, creative type!

I love staying with her and she has frequent houseguests and lives in a vacation friendly town.

She does this so effortlessly that there’s not really a basket just a well stocked and very comfortable room. Chargers already plugged in, fresh sheets on the bed, even a stocked mini fridge!

I am allowing them to stay in my home; why on earth would I leave them a gift basket. I’m not running an Airbnb!

I have a basket of toiletries in my guest bathroom, and I keep nice shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower.

Nice towels rolled on the shelf.

Bottled water on the nightstand.

Ideally in a guest room I try to have:
- towels/washcloths
- an extra blanket easily visible in the room
- hangers and drawer space
- a few books
- a phone charger (iPhone for our family)
- tissues
- a LINED trash can in the bedroom and definitely the bathroom (I can't tell you how often I go to people's homes, particular older people, who do not line their trash cans. I know they just forget woman have periods, but it's awkward all around.)
- a small basket or tray with a travel toothbrush, small toothpaste, lotion, ibuprofen, maybe shampoo and condition (if it's a woman who would look like hell if she washed her hair with soap), and depending on the person I have so many minis I might throw in some skincare or extras if I know they'd like them (and mention to keep them)
- a few bottles of water
- maybe a few piece of chocolate

We currently have most guests stay in hotels, but when we have a full guest room this is my ideal.

What? No. I make sure the guest bathroom is clean, the kids didn’t leave it without toilet paper and that they have towels.

Towels and water bottles.

If I am feeling very magnanimous that day I might ask them what they want the thermostat to be set at.

Nope. I make sure the guest room is clean and isn't missing anything. I leave towels on the bed, and wifi info on the nightstand. I show them where to get fresh towels if needed.
