People are catching on to the unholy leftis alliance.

Schumer is standing for what his US citizen constituents want — 1) DACA compromise, 2) not to pay for a useless wall.

Wasn’t Mexico supposed to pay for the wall?

Working class Americans don’t want 80 dollar/day illegal labor. You do for your mansion. Go visit the fire halls in small town USA. You are an elitist like Schumer.

You didn't answer the PP's question. Didn't Trump say Mexico was going to pay for the wall? This is a yes or no question. Are you even capable of admitting the truth?

Which is worse - Steven Ratner saying the stock market will crash if Trump is elected or Paul Krugman saying there would be an "Economic Fallout" the day after Trump was elected?

DP... The hundreds of thousands of American businesses that keep employing them obviously still want them. Need to acknowledge that and sort that out somehow.

Sorry, I don’t care about business that take advantage of this black market. MAGA

Like Trump’s businesses?

THAT is what caused the TrumpShutdown

The Lindsey/Dick deal won’t even pass the senate. It will definitely get killed in the House. What makes you think the gang of six is going to pass when the gang of eight died? There is no deal for DACA.

This is certainly a #SchumerShutdown.

Are you so sure of that? There's a reason why McConnell wouldn't put DACA up by itself for a clean vote - it's because he knew it was a losing bet for him. There's a reason why McConnell wouldn't put CHIP up for a clean vote. Because he knew he would lose. Instead he pushed getting rid of them into the budget deal figuring he could get rid of DACA and CHIP by holding the budget hostage. McConnell made a gamble and lost.

You are talking about farmers and small businesses all throughout the heartland. Seems you are the elitist who hates the heartland now.

ie Trump’s businesses?

Have you pushed your reps to enforce a crackdown on businesses who utilize illegal labor?

PS I am PP and used to live in a shitshack in Arlington and never hired day laborers to work on my house. Only licensed bonded contractors.

Then why not fix it by giving them worker visas? That would be a sensible answer. No, instead you want them thrown out of the country because they are brown people.

Well, I am married to a hispanic, so I don't feel badly about the "brown person" stuff. And I grew up on and still own a farm so that elitist stuff doesn't tag me.

And I think Trump is a big hypocrite, so that doesn't rattle me either. I just want the border secured and illegal immigration stopped. Legal immigration -- especially merit based -- is great! Then, for me, MAGA is complete.

This is all on the GOP and the public knows it.

No one claims republicans are entitled to 60 votes. You don't understand what negotiation means. Trump has no reason to make any concessions to Schumer as Schumer has no actual ability to pass anything. Schumer is on his own with this.

Your statement undermines your argument. Try again.

Or let me help. Legislation requires 60 votes. The GOP has 51. As a result, the GOP needs to figure out how to get to 60. And as it is, 5 GOP defected, so really, the GOP needs to figure out how to get 15 more votes than what it had on Friday. Getting those votes means offering something as a compromise to democrat Senators to induce them to vote for your bill. They are not entitled to those 15 votes, they have to do a little work to earn them. That work is called negotiation. Negotiation means making concessions. Understand?

It is Schumer who wants DACA to pass as part of the CR, not Trump or McConnell. Therefore, it is Schumer not Trump or McConnell who needs to get 60 votes for it. Schumer doesn't have 60 votes for DACA linked or unlined to the CR. IF Schumer thought he could get 60 votes for DACA without trying to blackmail the nation, he wouldn't have pulled this stunt. The stunt failed.

Lol the stunt hasn't failed, the government is shut down.

Yes. Everyone who continues to argue on this thread about schumer’s Lack of negotiating position, or that the Democrats are the arbiters of this shutdown, need to read this ten times and get it through their heads.

If this is true then there is no reason to insist that CR DACA and CHIP be linked. Pass the CR and then move on to other business. The problem is that it's not true.

DACA has had the votes for months with bipartisan support, but McConnell wouldn’t bring it forward to vote. Why? We could have avoided all this.

That's what elections are for and if you win in 2018 you can try to get legislation you want. You couldn't even when Obama was president. In the.meantime you shut down the.government because you don't have the votes for the reforms you want yet think that's going to help you win in 2018. It won't. Adopting centrist positions on immigration issues might help you win but then you would have to burn your Che Guevara T shirt.

Legislation comes from the Congress. If the Congress refuses to bring bills sponsored by the executive to the floor for a vote, then you force the executive to do what they can be legal means via Executive Order. That is why Obama signed the DACA EO. If Speaker Ryan had been willing to work with Obama at any step of the way on these issues, we wouldn't have had 6 years of presidency by EO, now would we?

No. The president is supposed to enforce the laws that exist, not make up his own.

Like our war on ISIS? Bombing Syria?
