Infertility Support and Discussion
| About 3 weeks after losing a baby at 20 weeks, I decided to start taking my BBT just to see if I could start tracking ovulation. My temperature was consistent at 97.7 for awhile and then jumped to 98.3 and has been 98.0 for about a week. Would that mean I ovulated? This is the first time I've ever done the BBT tracking. My husband and I weren't trying to get pregnant since my cycle hasn't resumed yet, but we had intercourse last Sunday night before my temperature shift Wednesday morning. Could there be a possibility of being pregnant? |

I am so sorry for your loss... I couldn't even imagine going through that.
Not sure what to tell you about the temp shift... from 97.7 to 98.3 is a def jump, but the 98 makes it borderline... have you tried inputting the temps in fertilityfriend.com? theydetect the faintest changes and detect ovulation for you. GL! |

First, I am so sorry for the loss of your baby.
With regard to your temps, a shift of .3 degrees IS considered a thermal shift, so going from 97.7 up to 98.3 and then down to 98.0 would be considered a thermal shift and you would mark ovulation on your chart on the day before your temp went up to 98.3. The 98.0 doesn't make it borderline, to me - that is still .3 degrees above your pre-ovulatory temps. However, after a late pregnancy loss like you have suffered, it could take a while for your body to get back to normal. Have you had your beta hCG levels checked? You probably won't ovulate until that number returns to non-pregnant levels (5 or lower). Also, make sure you are using a BBT thermometer, not a regular digital thermometer, and taking your temp immediately upon waking, without getting up, and at the same time every morning. It's kind of unusual for your temp to be a consistent 97.7 over any extended period of time (like an entire week). I rarely have the same temp for more than 2 days in a row. |
