How do taxes compare living in Oakmont versus living a few blocks away but not in the town's boundary? I think you pay a local income tax on top of MD state income tax? How about property taxes? I see this but it's not clear to me. http://www.townofoakmont.org/taxes/
Just wondering because I saw this house pop up. https://redf.in/7XDF4m |

You pay local taxes no matter where you live in MD:

| But you typically pay a bit extra in local municipalities - it's low, but so worth it! And some of your county tax is redirected to your town, too, so long as you list it on your tax form. |
| Haha. OP must saw a sign at one of side street of Og rd across the firehouse near NIH. I wondered the same thing years ago when I lived on that street. |
| Seems like a small add to taxes. We are nearby. Convenient location and the Arylawn Park with its playground, fields, and tennis courts is a wonderful neighborhood place to walk or bike over to with kids. |
| Do you like lots of gov't and to pay taxes, then by all means move to an incorporated town in MoCo. |
| The owners of that house sure do like yellow. |
Yes, it’s awesome. Twice a week trash and we don’t have to bring it down to the street. |
Which is great, and really needed as the streets are super narrow and few(?) sidewalks I seem to recall. Would be a tight fit with trash and recycling containers all over. Martin's Addition in CC has the same, and it is wonderful! |
| OP here. I figured it out, at least for property taxes. There is an additional property tax for Oakmont on top of state and county property tax. The rate is 0.0400 on top of the MoCo property tax rate of 0.9915. So for this house it an extra $422 in 2021. |
