Tilden MS- PE clothes or no?

Anonymous
I realize this is a very specific, slightly ridiculous question but... whatever. My child has some special ed classes and is very very concerned with fitting in and looking "normal."

Do students change for PE? And do most kids wear the Tilden PE clothes the school sells, or bring their own? The prices for the Tilden stuff are on par with what I'd find at Target, so I don't care either way. DC wouldn't cough up any info about what the other kids did on the first day.

OP it may be year-specific too. We are at a different MCPS MS and last year with COVID concerns, the teachers didn't encourage students to gather in the locker rooms and change for PE so most didn't (other than briefly changing to appropriate shoes) - they just headed straight outside. My MS kid says that kids might go back to changing this year but I don't know how many will do so.

PP again. If your DC won't say what kids did on the first day, it may be because it hasn't shaken out yet so they don't know. Just let your DC know if there is a deadline for ordering on the online store, and if they want the clothes, they'll need to cough up some info.

My kid is at Tilden. They do change clothes for PE that they keep at the gym locker. We didn't buy any Tilden specific wear but stay with the chosen colors, ie white, gray, black for tops and grey/black pants.

My kid finished at Tilden in 2020, so it's been a few years, but she owned a Tilden PE shirt and shorts and mixed with other athletic wear. They definitely changed before and after class, and I tried to have mine bring home clothes each weekend to wash. Having only one uniform wasn't a problem since she wore other clothes as well, it didn't necessarily have to be back at school Monday morning. She wore the shirt more than the shorts, they were more old-fashion.

My kid is also at Tilden. She generally changes but doesn’t wear or own the uniform.

My 8th grader at Tilden has a couple tilden t shirts for PE. Shorts/sweatpants were purchased elsewhere though. My sense last year was that they changed but most pull together other items based on the color scheme rather than wearing all the Tilden gear.
