What would you want?

If you just had twins and have another set of twins in Kindergarten, what food would you love me to bring you? I'm not afraid of cooking, just afraid of bringing the wrong thing to my overwhelmed new mommy friend.
I'd love to give her something that freezes easily and would likely be enjoyed by all. Oh, and something that is dairy free would be a plus as one of the older twins is allergic to milk.
Thank you so much!

You're such a thoughtful friend! Maybe a batch of chilli? Not really a spring/summer food but it's a meal in itself and freezable and no dairy (or optional dairy if they want to add cheese).

A fruit cobbler - - Not terribly practical, but a really good treat. I also second the chili idea.

I like spaghetti with meat sauce or other italian food. Can you offer to hold a baby while she eats? I can't really imagine having two sets of twins - wow!! Congratulations to her!

I'd want a nanny.

a HUGE bowl of already cut up fruit.

a bottle of vodka for each hand

Vodka wouldn't be strong enough.

Pancakes can be made dairy free and freeze beautifully, are kid friendly and a mom can microwave and eat plain w/ one hand. Muffins, fruit breads are perfect to grab and go, and work as snacks for kids too.

Awesome ideas. Thank you so much. I'll pack a bag tomorrow:
- handle of vodka (with straws)
- frozen chilli
- cut up fruit (to flavor the vodka)

She'll be thankful, right? Once she's drunk?

With two kids in Kindergarten, plus newborn twins, I'd want healthy foods that the kids would like to eat. Maybe a homemade mac n cheese casserole? Oh no good, one kid can't eat dairy.

How about some breaded chicken cutlets with steamed edamame or something kind of healthy like that? Or a big beef stew? It's har dif you don't know what the kids like. But that's what I'd want as a mom -- healthy foods my family would eat.

Whatever food keeps blastocysts from splitting in two

Just kidding, I'm sure that busy family will appreciate whatever dish you make with the most love. Congratulations to your friend.

On the back of the San Georgio Ziti box is a recipe for what I call baked spaghetti. It's basically lasagna/stuffed shell filling and ziti that you miss all together and top with tomato sauce and bake. My elementary school aged kids love it and it's cheap and takes less than ten minutes to make. It also freezes well. Top it off with a batch of brownies and you have a meal plus a second meal of leftovers for a family of five.

I also second the fruit. Especially if you include pineapple. At least that's what I would want to get.

You are a nice friend, OP.

My gf's and I do meal rotations each time someone has a child - at this point, we've all got two and have one on the way. The meal is to include an entree, side and dessert... it's a lot of fun. A few of the best that I've given/received were as follows:

pesto pasta w/ chicken, salad and garlic bread
homemade mac n cheese w/ salad and fruit for desert
enchiladas w/ chips and guac
lasagna
Bottle of wine or two

These all freeze well, easy to make. I think your friend will probably be happy about whatever you bring her, anything for her will be easier than doing it herself! Definitely take the vodka or a big bottle of wine and offer to hold the babies while she gets a big glass and sits down to relax
