Putting US plates on car drilled for EU plates

Anonymous
I recently moved back stateside from overseas. I’d bought a Land Rover while living there and shipped it back. It is US spec but had been drilled for EU plates. The longer EU plates of course have fit perfectly, but now that my car is here and I have successfully registered it in my new state, I realized that I cannot fit the smaller US style license plates on my vehicle. They are of course too small to fit into the long EU plastic plate holders, but the holes drilled on the front and rear to hold the license plate holders are too far apart to secure the smaller US license plate holder and license plates.

Any chance anybody has been there done that? I’m curious if there’s some type of conversion kit I can purchase, or if I need to get to a dealership and have them drill new holes? Thank you for any input.

I mounted my front plate with 3M heavy duty outdoor tape from Home Depot. Zero issues. You can purchase BumperPlugs or cheaper Amazon knockoffs to fill the old holes.

Thanks from OP. I found a conversion kit on Amazon and I’m going to give it a go, but I am bookmarking your response in case it does not work. Thank you for replying.

There are usually different plate holders for US and Euro plates. You can go to the parts department at the dealer and get the US plate holder.

Just go to the dealer. They will do it.

Go to one in Virginia. Maryland dealers don’t know how to do front plates.
