Does anyone enjoy the ability to get to know colleagues over Zoom/Teams before meeting them?

In my case I joined in 2021, all WFH, and we just had our first all-hands training in person this month.

I’ve enjoyed figuring out personalities and dynamics from the sidelines so to speak.

I don’t want to get to know my coworkers. I just want to work.

OP here - Yes I feel similarly but if I have to figure them out I’d rather have the year of maybe minimal interactions vs the the 40+ hours a week in office of direct contact.

The opposite. No one meets anyone. We're all to busy to schedule meetings just to say hi. What used to be a 5 minute interaction in the break room while you were grabbing coffee, now has to be an awkward, scheduled meeting.

Ugh, no. It's awful. I'm an introvert and you would think that I would love this, but I hate it.

No I hate Zoom

What does anyone figure out over Zoom/Teams? Not much.

I would never have a job where this is how I interacted with people all day.

Introvert here - I am having the time of my life! Meetings are quick and we’re gone. Love it.

I think most of the men I work with in Zoom meetings are pervs in real life. I would never want to meet them in person. I imagine they work all of 2 hours a day. And they spend the rest of the time looking at p@rn.

I just had an in-person event for the first time in a few years. I'll tell you what, people use some really flattering ol' pictures on their e-mail profiles. When I met people in person, I was surprised how much older / heavier they were. It made me really feel for people who do online dating.

Most of my people looked the same IRL but we mostly do camera on meetings and we're super casual (tech company). I can imagine it would be different if you were in another industry.

NP- I agree with the 1st person. Even though I see people with their videos on, they were using the blur/photoshop effect on Teams. People looked so different in real life.

I will say that I get a lot of comments that I look different in real life, but it's that I look like sh!t on video, plus I think it makes me look heavier.

No. I can't say that emphatically enough.

I don't care either way and prefer to do my job and interact whatever way as little as possible.
