Churches in Bethesda

Anonymous
We are new to the area and were looking for churches with young kids. We have tried a bunch in Bethesda and Potomac. They were great but the demographic in these congregations had virtually no toddler or young kids. Does anyone have any ideas where is a good place to look?
Thanks

any particular denomination?

Op here. Protestant but we are open-minded after that. We used to attend a Baptist church.

Not in Bethesda, but close:

St. Columbas in Tenleytown
Blessed Sacrement in Chevy Chase, DC (10:30 children's mass in the gym)

Try St. John's Episcopal on Wisconsin Avenue and Bradley Lane - 9:00 service is full of young families with kids.

I was also going to suggest St. Johns Norwood. We have been happy here with two young children.

third vote in support of St. John's. Congregation is relatively small and very welcoming. Great children's program.

Thanks, that really helps. I assume you all think St Johns is good for adults too?

Hi -
I posted this in response to your inquiry on the off-topic forum:

St. James Episcopal Church on Seven Locks in Potomac. It's a small-ish congregation (~350 I think), but a decent number of kids and very good Sunday School program.

If interdenominational is OK, check out Washington International Church on River Road, NW, just two blocks inside the District line. Lots of families with kids from infants to teens, Vacation Bible School in late June, Christmas pageant, nursery and Sunday school. Our family has been very pleased.

Yes! The congregation is a very nice group of intelligent and open-minded adults -- and very supportive in times of need. We suffered a great loss in our family recently and the church was just wonderful reaching out to us.
