| Wondering if I can take out a $10k loan for DC who is currently in college but has not taken out a loan as of yet. |
| same question - DC applying this year to a college we cannot afford. Will have to take out a loan. |
| It doesn't. |
| I think it is only good for loans taken out prior to July 1 2022. Sadly, my son signed his load paperwork on July 7... |
| holy grifters, batman. If you're clever enough to come up with this scheme, you're clever enough to read the highlights in the news stories that it only applies to loans taken out prior to July 1, 2022. |
| god i hope not. this would be called gaming the system and you would be a jerk. |
| I absolutely hate this forgiveness sh8T. |
| IDK.. colleges are more expensive now than a few years ago. I would think they would be willing to forgive loans forever until colleges reduce their costs. |
Same. But, I think higher ed at public universities should be free, or close to. Like the SUNY system. This way, we don't have to scheme our way around loans and such. It's all BS. I cannot believe I had to pay back $100K for all this crap. |
| Nope. If it does, I am taking a few months off of work and taking some art classes while incurring 10k in loans. |
Why is it gaming the system? People will have to take out loans for the same reason people took out loans 5 or 10 years ago. |
You can just reduce your income to below $60K and get pell grants, that’s free money. |
There should be a follow on forgiveness program. |
|
If my child graduated last year he would get forgiveness because he would not be a dependent but since he graduated this year and was a dependent last year he won’t.
Correct? |
Current students' loans acquired prior to July 1, 2022 are eligible. My potentially imperfect understanding is that that dependent students will qualify on parents hhi (and if you took out any Parent Plus loans and meet the income qualifications you might qualify on their behalf). But the full details will be shared soon. |
