Supported / co-taught etc

Anonymous
Is there somewhere that lists the differences of supported classes, co-taught classes, self contained etc? And what that looks like in terms of what staff is in the classroom, and if it's all SPED or mixed or whatever?

If it is co-taught with a sped teacher, they generally lost both teachers in the schedule. Even if there is not a second teacher listed, there might be a para in the class. Self-contained are not marked in the schedule, but you should know from the IEP meeting.

Yes, but I'm just looking for a lot of the different types of classes.

I don’t think there’s a list.

Supported- a normal size class with a mix of students with and without IEP’s. Support is generally given by a para.

Co-taught- a normal size class with a mix of students with and without IEP’s. A second teacher is in the room to help with instruction.

Self-contained- a smaller class with only students receiving special education. These classes are all taught by a special educator and often also have a para. The look of a self-contained class varies greatly between programs.
