Creeping thyme - plant in fall?

I was trying to take over my city sidewalk "tree box" area with creeping thyme, but then the city had to do sidewalk work and it got destroyed.

Can I plant creeping thyme now in DC and have it live through the winter? From seed or grown seedlings?

Yes you can, although you may have to do some additional seeding in the spring.
