I am considering this. I am 5'10 and 145 and want to lose 5-8 lbs. I eat too much cereal and oatmeal!
Anyone had success? ANy breakfast tips?

I have done it and it was successful for me. I did eat alot of oatmeal and cereal during the diet as well as:
Egg whites with veggies or a piece of turkey bacon with a very small piece of whole wheat bread
or
Yogurt parfait with berried and granola

I lost weight on it at first but as soon as I ate a carb, I gained it all back. Totally wasnt sustainable. Oatmeal is very good for you and is probably not making you weigh more than you would like.

Also, 5'10" and 145? and you want to lose weight?

South Beach didn't work for me, either.
What about eating smaller meals, see if you're full with half the amount? Also cut back on oat meal. But oat meal's good for you!
I've lost 20 pounds on WW, it's not just what you eat but how much you eat.

OP here
i eat a veggie based dinner and then cereal an hour later. I love cereal but think i would be better off eating protein and veggies and then not eating carbs (cereal etc) at 9pm!

I have the same stature you do and was successful on it--you do have to watch your carb intake or the weight creeps back on. I found the protein really curbed my appetite. The first two weeks are the toughest--and I lost weight even by adding an apple a day as a snack. It is perfect for losing 5-10 pounds fairly quickly without drastic methods.

Tried it and it worked, after the first two weeks it gets a lot easier as you reintroduce healthy carbs. The most important thing is to be prepared--have snacks ready to grab esp. those first two weeks. Do a big grocery shop and prep cut up veggies, cheese, etc. to have on hand.

That first week of carb withdrawal I was a total bitch.
