Kings Dominion vs Six Flags

Please no commentary on how you would never ever. I don’t really love amusement parks but promised my kids we would go this coming week.

Can anyone knowledgeable give pros and cons of each? This is for a 9 year old and 12 year old.

I would take King's Dominion over Six Flags. It's worth it for the water park. My kids spent the bulk of their time at the water park at that age. The wave pool, the lazy river, he multiple-story playground-style water structure, the "toilet bowl" ride where you get on a raft and swirl around inside.

The hardest part was getting a lounging chair at the wave pool that was in the shade, but that was my problem, not yours.

Six Flags is a lot of fun and it's literally right down the street. You can make a day, or even an afternoon, of it and be done.

Busch Gardens would be good for a weekend trip IMO. It's a long drive.

Kings Dominion crowds are much safer and respectful.
No line cutting vs. tons of it at Six Flags.

Went to KD this last week. Was awesome. Water park fun. Stafford County schools are already back so was light on people. This also meant not all the food options were available but it was fine. Have fun!

NP. Yes it does, but doesn't Six Flags also have one?

Me again. Download the KD app. Buy tix online (much cheaper). When I’m the park, the app will tell You ride wait times.

We were at Six Flags recently and there were no issues and practically no lines at all. It was really fun to go from ride to ride and just get on without waiting for more than 5 minutes. Highly recommend.

I haven’t been there since the 1980s. Remember the water park was fun but there were some drowning incidents in the wave pool

Kings Dominion.
I think Six Flags has a worse safety track record meaning safety of rides .

Food service at Six Flags was always pretty slow, long lines but I haven't been in a couple years so maybe it's improved. My teens went to KD over the summer and didn't have any problems. When I asked them which they liked better they said the water park at KD was better but overall about the same.
