Does your child's elementary school teach foreign language? I was under the impression that they did, but apparently was wrong.

APS dropped the foreign language in elementary in 2020.

Oh, that makes sense with all the recovery of academics due to covid. I didn't realize. What about ACPS? Anyone know thier deal with foreign language in elementary?

It had nothing to do with COVID- it was decided before the pandemic started. I’m not sure if ACPS ever had a program similar to the one in APS.

ACPS doesn't have language in elementary school. They have two dual language programs one at the very low performing Mount Vernon Community School and one at the much better performing (for ACPS) John Adams Elementary School.

APS has also dropped it for 6th graders.

TJ still had it last year. Or is it only at TJ because of IB?

Swanson offers half a year of language as an option for 6th graders - French, Spanish, or Latin.
