Recent feedback on Wheaton academies — especially computer science

Any recent feedback on the Wheaton academies, especially the computer science academy?

I understand that the Biomedical and Engineering application programs are excellent, but have heard less about the (lottery) academies. My DC is very interested in the computer science academy. Can anyone tell me whether it’s a good fit for kids who already have a great deal of programming experience? DC will have completed the computer science sequence in the TPMS math/science magnet, and basically spends most of their free time at home on programming projects as well. I want to make sure the program would continuously challenge them with new material.

For anyone with knowledge, I’m also interested in knowing whether kids in the lottery academies have access to courses in the Biomedical and Engineering sequences, since I think those would interest DC as well. And, finally, does Wheaton generally have a nice selection of challenging courses (e.g., AP classes) for kids who are very academically motivated?

I don't have direct experience with the computer science academy, but they seem to have impressive college acceptances. Yes, your child could take biomed or engineering classes and some kids even complete two academies. And yes they have a good selection of AP classes.

Op here. Thank you! This is really helpful information. Do you happen to know where I could find the list college acceptances?

Argyle also has a computer science focus and feeds Wheaton, so there should be a cohort of kids with a fair amount of experience.

My kid is in the Cybersecurity lottery magnet at Wheaton. They love the school. Came from a middle school magnet. I think it's a really good school with a very nice community.

Don't mean to hijack OP's thread, would you mind telling me a little more about that program? I tried looking it up and didn't fidn much information. Thanks!
