We are thinking of going to Hawaii - 3 adults (1 is a grandparent) plus 2 kids (6 and 8) - for about 10 days at the very end of March. We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon and did the Big Island and Kauai. Wondering if we should just focus on Maui this time? Split our time between Big Island and Oahu or Maui?
Would love suggestions on islands, and any VRBO/Airbnb rentals or locations to stay, and activities that are not to be missing. Thanks! |
| 100% Maui. It’s a fantastic island. Beautiful, peaceful, something for everyone. Don’t split. Not worth it. I like Wailea personally. |
| I live in Hawaii (Oahu) and would not go anywhere else but the Big Island. |
| Maui is too dry. Kauai is nice. Lots to do on Oahu as well. Big island for the volcano. |
Maui is gorgeous. The entire earth is experiencing drought, but Maui is far more interesting & varied than Kauai. |

That period I believe overlaps whale season in Maui. That's quite neat when you go swimming in the south side of island you can hear the humpback whales singing and regularly see them from the shore.
I personally love the Big Island as there's so many different activities. But you have been already. I don't really think you can go wrong, though, with any of the major islands. |
| why is this in midlife/elder forum? is that why everyone is suggesting maui? |
| Love the big island and Kauai - that's where we will go, when we go - our kids are too little for such an expensive adventure that they won't remember! |
