Hi all,
I will be traveling back from Paris this weekend and was wondering if anyone had recent experience with how early to arrive at CDG? I’m seeing conflicting information online. Also, has anyone taken the RER from Paris? Wondering if that is better than a taxi (we are 6 people). Thank you! |

We took a Taxi. Taking the RER doesn't save much, if any, money.
Wait time was normal for an international flight. I believe we arrived 2 hours ahead of time. |
What airline are you flying? What time is your flight? Checking bags? Economy, premium economy, or business? Also, where are you coming from in Paris? If it's close to the RER B, I would recommend that if your luggage is reasonable. But if it's somewhere that takes a few transfers, might be too much hassle. |

In June I arrived 2 hours ahead of time and boarded at 12:50pm flight at 12:49 b/c it took us 1 hour and 55 minutes to get through passport control then security, and this was with us expedited b/c our flight was leaving soon. It was a mess. We were very very lucky they held the plane for us.
This was the terminal where United is located. The terminal is not very deep so it was a crowded mess and the line to passport control (then security) snaked through the entire terminal with people just jumping in the middle of the line since there were not ropes. I would count on 3 hours. Taxi rates to and from the airport are a set amount so it's actually not that bad (65 euros) considering how far away the airport is from downtown. Good luck! |
Time of day matters in terms of traffic, its a consideration if looking at a taxi. I would guess a taxi van for 6 people would be around 85-90 euros. The RER/Metro ticket to CDG is 10 euros/person, so yes its not a significant money savings, but if its at rush hour you could save a significant amount of time if traffic is bad. That would be my main motivation in taking the train. |
| Thanks, all. Our flight is through United at around 12:45. We aren’t checking bags and have economy seats. We’d likely have a 10 minute walk to RER B. Does anyone have a way to book the vans in advance? Every time we’ve tried, they have cancelled on us. |
If staying at a hotel, have hotel book van. |
You can get a 6 person van using Uber. |
No book through the hotel…..much more reliable. |
Since it's a weekend traffic is unlikely to be bad. I would request the Uber at 9:15 or so for a 9:30.piclup,arrival by 10:15 or so. Gives you 2.5 hours, should be more than enough time. |
