Friday before labor day

The MCPS calendar doesn't indicate early dismissal for the Friday before labor day, but wondering whether the schools unofficially let out early?

So, you think Your School is going to arrange the buses to come early that day?

Is this your first year in MCPS? There are no unofficial early dismissals. There are 200+ schools with bus routes that get coordinated.

Unofficially let out early? Like just let elementary school kids show up at home a few hours early? What?

There’s no such thing as a school unofficially letting out early in MCPS, OP!

Early dismissal for a single school only happens if there’s a safety issue like complete electrical failure. Even then, the decision is made by the principal’s higher ups.

You can sign your child out early and it will count as an unexcused absence, but you won’t get any blowback from the school. If your child is in high school, they may not be able to make up any in class assignments.
