Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| I've done some Internet research but haven't come up with much. What do you do if you need to take a cab and don't have a car seat? Or if you're going to the airport? Do you have to lug the car seat and/or base everywhere? |
| We use Sit-n-Stroll combo car seat/airplane seat/stroller. Steers with one hand. Lightweight but strudy. Fits through x-ray machines. Has pluses and minuses like everything. Kind of weird to use at first. Try giving it a test drive at a baby store. If you are bringing a stroller anyway and travel more than 2 times a year, you may want to invest in one. Works for about age 4mos to 4 yrs. |
| there is an exception to the car seat rule for taxis. so if you feel comfortable traveling without one you can. |

Not sure if it's the same for MD and DC but we live in VA where you do not have to have the child in a car seat in taxis. We took a taxi to and from the airport last week and held DS on our lap. He seemed to think that was so much fun. If you are not comfortable with that, then you can request a taxi with a car seat. Sometimes they may take a bit longer to arrive but they do have them.
This differs from State to State. In Florida, for example, the law requires a child to be in a car seat even in taxis, so we reserved a taxi to meet us at the airport and we requested a car seat. When in doubt, call the cab company and ask them |
