What an embarrassment. It’s a typical DC construction project - ill-managed with cost overruns.

Hains Point is an artificial island created out of dredged material. The ground water level is basically the level of the river!

The pool was operational for over 50 years; it's not located on the actual point.

Interesting, the city government actually controls the pool. Why is this, given that Hains Point is clearly federal land and run by the NPS?

6 years closed already and it's going to be at least 2 more years. That's practically a whole childhood.
